Richard L. "Dick" Webster, 71, of Newton died of heart failure Monday, March 10, at Heritage Manor in Newton.

Memorial services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with Tom Rodewald officiating. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery in Newton. No visitation is scheduled. Memorials in his name may be left at the funeral home.

The son of Richard H. and Elizabeth M. (White) Webster, he was born April 30, 1931, in Mason City. On Oct. 25, 1967, he married Ruth I. Sell in Omaha, Neb. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a self-employed carpenter for 15 years and retired in 1990. He was a resident of Newton for 30 years.

Survivors include two sons, Richard Webster of Macon, Ga., and Brian Webster of Decatur, Ala.; two step-sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Wanda Sell and Steve and Roz Sell, all of Newton; two daughters, Sherry Donlay of Davenport and Sandy Webster of Mason City; two stepdaughters and a son-in-law, Karen Andrews and Ellie and Dan Richardson, all of Newton; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and his mother.

He was preceded in death by his father, wife and a brother.
