NEVADA - Mary O. Vansice, 71, of Nevada died Saturday, April 5, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Baxter. Burial will follow services in the Restland Cemetery in Baxter.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Boyd-Davis Funeral Home in Baxter, where the family will be present from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the Israel Family Hospice House.

The daughter of Henry and Ion (Trout) Wax, she was born Feb. 14, 1932, in Maxwell. Raised and educated in Maxwell, she later married Merrill Vansice in Baxter. She was a homemaker and an avid outdoors person. She loved to go camping and fishing with her husband. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband, two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Char Vansice of Nevada and Merrill Jr. and Diane Vansice of Alden; two daughters and a son-in-law, Shirley and David Smith of Mingo and Rosemary Vansice of Marshalltown; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Wilma and Howard Oxley of Nevada, Adeline Bishop of Maxwell and Emma Smith of Maxwell; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
