Vivian M. DeGreef, 80, of Newton died Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

A memorial service will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Merle Smith, chaplain of Skiff Medical Center in Newton, officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorials will be accepted to Hospice of Jasper County.

The daughter of Oakley L. and Bess Shannon Warner, she was born April 8, 1925, in rural Monroe. She graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1942 and received a double associate of arts degree from Des Moines Area Community College. She also took pre-graduate classes at the University of Iowa.

She was a licensed health care administrator and was employed as a quality health care specialist for 30 years for facilities in Newton, Urbandale and Cedar Rapids. She served on the Mercy Hospice Board in Cedar Rapids, Mt. Mercy College Advisory Board and was a volunteer for Hospice of Jasper County and Jasper County Domestic Violence.

Survivors include two sons, Daniel Shane DeGreef of Des Moines and Mark Anthony DeGreef of Coralville; three daughters, Penny (Roger) Rasmussen of Newton, Bonnye Varland of Newton and Deborah Swihart of Ankeny; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Iris Ling of Ankeny.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jon Thomas DeGreef; and a brother, Robert Warner.
