Vivian R. Beck, 43, of Newton died Monday, March 6, 2006, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

A funeral service will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with Capt. Ron Cook of The Salvation Army in Newton officiating. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call from 11:30 p.m. Friday until the time of the service. The family will greet friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Memorials may be left in her name at the funeral.

The daughter of Donald E. "Don" and Phyllis P. Mattly Beck, she was born Jan. 10, 1963, in Iowa City. She graduated from Shelby High School but lived most of her life in Newton. She worked through Progress Industries and had a cleaning service. She was a member of The Salvation Army and Women's Ministries (Women's Home League). She enjoyed car racing, dogs and cats and collecting unicorns and angels.

She is survived by a son, Benjamin Beck of Cedar Rapids; her mother of Newton; three brothers, Verle (Kim) Beck of Grinnell, Tony (Jennifer) Beck of Monroe and Terry (Regina) Beck of Des Moines; and two nieces and three nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father.
