Clara Isabel Bebout, 89, of Newton died Tuesday, March 14, 2006, in the Hospice of Jasper County Monarch Wing at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

A graveside service was held today at Gosport Cemetery in rural Knoxville with the Rev. Gary Marzolf of First United Methodist Church in Newton officiating. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton handled arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Jasper County or American Cancer Society and may be left at the funeral home.

The daughter of Franklin Eugene Ray and Floydia M. Wall Rowland, she was born April 12, 1916, in Columbia. She graduated from Knoxville High School in 1933. On July 18, 1934, she married Robert Glen Bebout in Attica. She was a bookkeeper for HyVee for many years and was a homemaker.

Mrs. Bebout was a member of First United Methodist Church in Stafford, Ariz., Morning Star Rebekah Lodge No. 20 and worked for 21 years as a volunteer at the Senior Citizen's Center in Stafford, Ariz. She enjoyed watching baseball and doing needle work, crocheting, knitting and plastic canvas.

Survivors include two sons, Frederick (Annette) Bebout of Newton and Norman (Sue) Bebout of Ankeny; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Lanelle Rowland and Dana (Don) King, all of Knoxville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Larry Bebout; and two brothers, James and Clinton.
