Vincent L. Swihart

Vincent L. Swihart, 96, of Embassy Manor Care Center, a lifelong resident of Jasper County, died today, May 5, at the Manor.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

The Rev. J. Eugene Cedarholm, pastor of First Lutheran Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 8 a.m. Sunday.

Memorial contributions to the Skiff Medical Center will be accepted.

Survivors are a sister, Beulah (Mrs. Carroll) Streeter of Swarthmore, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Lydia, April 6, 1987, a brother, Arthur Swihart and a sister, Amber Stow.

Mr. Swihart, a retired farmer, was a member of the First Lutheran Church, a life member of the BPEO 1270 of Newton and a 50-year member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge.

The son of Eli and Anna Deutsch Swihart, he was born Nov. 24, 1892 in Newton Township in Jasper County.

He was married to Lydia E. Geoke July 6, 1914 in Newton.
