PELLA -- Hendrika (Mrs. Hubert) Struik, 77, of Pella, formerly of Newton, died this morning, May 9, at the Pella Community Hospital.

Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella is handling arrangements which have not been completed.

PELLA -- Funeral services for Hendrika Van Norden Struik, 77, of Pella, formerly of Newton, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 12, at the Newton Christian Reformed Church.

Dr. Joseph Brinks, pastor of Sully Christian Reformed Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Sully Cemetery.

Friends may call at Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella this afternoon and all day Thursday. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions to the Newton Christian Grade School will be accepted.

She died Tuesday morning at the Pella Community Hospital.

Survivors are her husband, Hubert; a son, Marvin J. of Mesa, Ariz.; four daughters, Lois (Mrs. Lowell) Vande Lune and Linda M. (Mrs. Loren) Vande Lune, both of Pella, Carol M. (Mrs. Ben) Van Zee of Newton and Phyllis F. (Mrs. Dave) Vander Pol of Sully; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are six sisters, Sophia (Mrs. Myron) Renaud, Nellie (Mrs. Henry) Jansen, Alice (Mrs. John) Jansen, Jennie (Mrs. Wilbur) Van Sant and Marie (Mrs. Henry C.) Terlouw, all of Sully, and Emma (Mrs. Karl) Rykhoek of Pella; and a brother, William Van Norden of Denver, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Helen Groenendyk in 1984, a sister, Effie Pleima, and three brothers, Herman, Henry and Cornelius Van Norden.

Mrs. Struik was an active member of Newton Christian Reformed Church in which she had taught Sunday school.

The daughter of Gerrit and Cornelia Van Dyke Van Norden, she was born March 1, 1912, near Sully and attended a Sully area grade school. She was married to Hubert Struik Feb. 12, 1937 in Sully.

The Struiks farmed in the Sully area before moving to a farm south of Newton. They moved to Pella in 1965 where they resided until 1974 when they returned to the Newton area. In November 1988 they moved to Pella.
