DES MOINES -- Ralph Swank, of Des Moines, a former resident of Jasper County, died Sunday, April 16, following heart surgery at a Des Moines hospital.
Funeral services are pending.

DES MOINES -- Funeral services for Ralph A. Swank, 63, of 6830 N. W. 4th St., Des Moines, a longtime resident of Des Moines and former resident of Lynnville, were held Thursday, April 20, at Merle Hay Funeral Home in Des Moines.
Burial was in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
He died of an aneurysm at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.
Memorial contributions to Easter Seals of Iowa will be accepted.
Survivors are his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Harlan Ray and Daniel Jay, both of Des Moines; a daughter, Sandra Kay Smithart of Sigourney; a sister, Jennie Van Kooten of Oskaloosa; and five grandchildren.
Mr. Swank, who retired in 1988 as a maintenance supervisor of Easter Seals, was a member of Pony Express Riders of Iowa, Hawkeye Road Riders, Gold Wing Road Riders, Iowa Retread, American Motorcycle Association, National Scooter Club and the Christian Motorcycle Association.
A member of the United Methodist Church in Ankeny, Mr. Swank was an Army veteran of World War II.
