COLFAX -- Anna Mae Van Baale Wells, 55, of 305 E. Division, Colfax, a native of Monroe, died this morning, Nov. 24, at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton.

The Rev. David Mc Neeley, pastor of the Assembly of God Church in Colfax, will conduct services. Burial will be in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.

Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Saturday. Visitation with the family will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials in her name will be accepted.

Survivors are her husband, Clarence; two sons, William Lee and Steven Ray, both of Colfax; two daughters, Deborah N. Retman of Newton and Susan Louise Wells of Colfax; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Horace Van Baale and Wendell Van Baale, both of Newton, and Darrell Van Baale of Sedalia, Mo.; and two sisters, Nathella
Mc Carter of Blue Springs, Mo., and Bessie Mc Keag of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Wells, a switchboard operator at the Lodge of the Five Seasons at Lake Ozark, Mo., attended the Assembly of God Church in Colfax.

The daughter of John Martin and Evan Gladys Oldham Van Baale, she was born Oct. 28, 1934 in Monroe and was a 1953 graduate of Newton Community High School.

She was married to Clarence L. Wells, Jr. in August, 1953, at Colfax.

Mrs. Wells resided in Newton and Colfax before moving to Missouri 10 years ago. She returned to Colfax in 1987.
