Myrtle L. Wilcox

Myrtle L. Tratchel Wilcox, 88, of 1426 1st Ave. E., a resident of Nelson Manor for the past month and resident of Jasper County for 68 years, died of cancer Saturday evening at Nelson Manor.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Reese Chapel.

The Rev. Scott Coulter, pastor of United Presbyterian Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Palo Alto Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. today. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions to the Jasper County Historical Society or Hospice of Jasper County may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are two sons, Philip Wilcox of Santa Fe Springs, Calif., and Forrest Wilcox of Green Valley, Ariz.; two daughters, Berdene (Mrs. Paul) Spencer and Judy (Mrs. Marlow) Good, both of Newton; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Don Tratchel of Newton; and a sister, Helen Kincebach of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and a sister.

Mrs. Wilcox, a clerk at F. W. Woolworth Store for 15 years prior to her retirement in 1962, was affiliated with the United Presbyterian Church, Fireside Club, Palo Alto Grange and Midwest Old Threshers Association.

The daughter of William and Elsie Ryan Tratchel, she was born May 12, 1901 in Altamont, Kan.

She was married to Willis F. Wilcox March 17, 1920 in Newton.
