Max Eugene Van Horn

FORT VALLEY, Va. -- Graveside services for Max Eugene “Tony” Van Horn, 58, of Fort Valley, Va., a former Prairie City resident, will be held Monday April 24, at Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City.

Family visitation will be held at the Prairie City United Methodist Church following services.

Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City is in charge of Prairie City arrangements.

Funeral services for Mr. Van Horn, who died Monday at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Martinsburg, W. Va., were held Thursday at the White Chapel United Methodist Church in Fort Valley, Va.

Mr. Van Horn is survived by his wife, Marjorie; and two sisters, Virginia (Mrs. Lloyd) Menard of Lakewood, Colo., and Alberta (Mrs. Robert) Barrett of Granger; nieces and nephews.

He was a member of the White Chapel United Methodist Church in Fort Valley, the Fort Valley Fire Department and the First Florida Calvary, N-CSA.

A gunsmith who owned and operated a gun repair shop in Fort Valley, Mr. Van Horn retired from the Air Force in 1971 after 20 years of service.

The son of Guy Harold and Irene Curry Van Horn, he was born in Prairie City and was a graduate of Prairie City Community High School.

He was married to Marjorie L. Schakel in 1954.
