PELLA -- Nellie De Graaf Van Der Wiel, 69, of Pella, a former longtime resident of the Prairie City community, died Tuesday, May 9, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Pella.
The Rev. John Gorter, pastor of the church, and the Rev. Siebert Kramer, a retired pastor, will conduct services. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Pella.
Memorials to Hospice of Pella will be accepted.
Friends may call at the Pella Garden Chapel Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Survivors are her husband, Gerald; two sons, Robert of Monroe and Marvin of Pella; a daughter, Lois Bowman of Newton; three grandchildren; and her mother, Minnie De Graaf of Pella.
Also surviving are two sisters, Henrietta De Graaf of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Wilma Jean Meinders of Pella; and two brothers, Gary De Graaf and Marvin De Graaf, both of Prairie City.
She was preceded in death by her father, two sisters, Genivieve De Graaf and Henrietta De Groot, and a brother, William.
Mrs. Van Der Wiel was a member of the Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Pella.
The daughter of Gerrit and Minnie Vander Wilt De Graaf, she was born Aug. 10, 1919 in rural Prairie City and attended Prairie City area schools.
She was married to Gerald Van Der Wiel Feb. 15, 1946 at the Prairie City Christian Reformed Church.
The couple farmed in the Prairie City area until retiring and moving to Pella six years ago.
