Elmer Dean Trease
GRINNELL -- Funeral services for Elmer Dean Trease, 56, of 1838 Fifth Ave., Grinnell, a former resident of Newton, were held today, Oct. 16, at Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell.
The John Epperson, pastor of the Grinnell Christian Church, conducted services. Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.
He died of cancer Friday at his home.
Survivors are his wife, Mary; two daughters, Deborah Spooner of Atlantic and Angela Gross of Grinnell; three granddaughters; three sister, Doris Detjen and Hilda Mc Cumber, both of Newton, and Florence Trease of Montezuma.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter.
Mr. Trease was a bookkeeper, salesman and parts manager of the Grinnell Implement Co. for 26 years and in recent years had worked for the Poweshiek County Human Services Department and for S and L Cleaning Co.
The son of Elmer and Grace Wilson Trease, he was born Sept. 5, 1933 in Newton and was a 1951 graduate of Newton Community High School.
He was married to Mary J. Talbott Nov. 27, 1955 in Newton.
