Chester Toedt, 86, of 122 N. 4th Ave. W., died Monday evening, July 31, at Skiff Medical Center.
Wallace-Pence Funeral Home is handling arrangements which have not been completed.

Chester H. Toedt
Funeral services for Chester H. Toedt, 86, of 122 N. 4th Ave. W., a longtime resident of Newton, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, at the Congregational United Church of Christ.
The Rev. David Raymond, pastor of the church will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home after noon today. Visitation with the family will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions to a fund in his name will be accepted.
He died Tuesday evening at Skiff Medical Center.
Survivors are his wife, Rose; a brother, Leo Toedt of Rt. 5, Newton; and a sister, Frances Moffitt of Mc Allen, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Dan and Herbert, and a sister, Hulda Elick.
Mr. Toedt, a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ, had been an assembler in automatic assembly at the Maytag Co. for 24 years prior to his retirement in 1967.
The son of Herman Phillip and Ida Tinnermeier Toedt, he was born April 3, 1903 in Mariposa Township in Jasper County and attended Jasper County rural schools.
He was married to Rose Ellen Knight July 20, 1022 in Des Moines.
