Una W. Tripp, 80, of 611 E. 3rd St. S., Apt. 2, died today, May 30, at the Skiff Medical Center.

Wallace-Pence Funeral Home is handling arrangements which have not been completed.

Una W. Tripp

Funeral services for Una W. Tripp, 80, a resident of Newton since 1973, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 1, at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

The Rev. Robert Snyder, pastor of Wittemberg United Church of Christ, north of Newton, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Wittemberg Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. today. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Jasper County will be accepted.

Survivors are two brothers, John H. Wormley of Newton and Myron E. Wormley of Fairfield; three nieces; three nephews; four great-nieces and two great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Myron Moffitt Tripp, Feb. 3, 1973.

Mrs. Tripp, a lifetime member of the Wittemberg United Church of Christ, was a former member of the Newton Women’s Club, the VIC of the Jasper County Savings Bank and the Jasper County Historical Society.

Mrs. Tripp, who had been employed at the Vernon Co. for a short period, retired from Federal service in Denver, Colo., in July, 1972, after three years with the Veterans Administration and more than 18 years with the U. S. Civil Service Commission.

The daughter of Jay and Effel Foreman Wormley, she was born Nov, 10, 1908, on a farm north of Newton. She was a 1926 graduate of Newton Community High School and attended the University of Northern Iowa at Cedar Falls, for a year prior to teaching rural schools in Jasper and Marshall Counties for five years.

She was married to Myron M. Tripp, April 8, 1932, in Missouri.

Mrs. Tripp had lived and worked in Lakewood, Colo., moving back to Newton after the death of her husband.
