MENVIL STEPP 29 Jan 1914 – 12 Jan 2001

Menvil Stepp, 86, of Marshalltown died of a respiratory ailment Saturday at Iowa Veterans Home there. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Reese Chapel in Newton. Burial, with military rites will be at Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg.

Mr. Stepp was born in Monticello, Ky., and had lived in Kellogg most of his life before moving to Marshalltown in 1983. He had worked at Midwest Metal Stamping Co. before retiring and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the American Legion and Izaak Walton League.

He is survived by his wife, Wanetta; a brother, Floyd of Kellogg; and two sisters, Flonnie Matherly of Grinnell and Maggie Foster of Kellogg.

Friends may call after noon today at the funeral chapel where the family will be present Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. to the time of services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.

KELLOGG--Menvil Stepp, 86, of Kellogg, died of respiratory arrest, Saturday, Jan. 13, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown where he had been a resident since 1983.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Reese Chapel in Newton with the Rev. Morris Hurd, pastor of Kellogg United Methodist Church in Kellogg, officiating. Burial will be at Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg with military graveside rites. Reese Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.

Friends may call today at the funeral home. Family will be present from 11:30 a.m. until time of the service on Tuesday. Memorials will be accepted to Iowa Veterans Home at Marshalltown.

The son of Otto and Mollie Delk Stepp, he was born Jan. 29, 1914, at Monticello, Ky. He moved to Kellogg from Kentucky in 1926 and attended Kellogg area schools. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was a member of the American Legion, and Emerson Hough Chapter Izaak Walton League. He married Wanetta Hill June 6, 1945, in Kellogg. He had worked at Midwest Metal Stamping Company, retiring in 1979.

Survivors include his wife; a brother, Floyd A. of Kellogg; and two sisters, Flonnie Matherly of Grinnell and Maggie Foster of Kellogg.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant daughters, and two sisters.
