Funeral services for Judith Ann Buchanan,51, of 891 E. 12th St. PL. N., a lifelong resident of Newton, were held this afternoon, Dec. 31, 1990, at the Sacred Hearts Catholic Church.

The Rev. E. William Kaska, pastor of the church, conducted services. Burial was in Sacred Hearts Catholic Cemetery.

Vigil services and family visitation was held Sunday at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

Memorials to the American Heart Association or to the church will be accepted.

She died Friday, Dec. 18, 1990 at the Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines of heart failure.

Survivors are her husband, Thomas; three daughters, Mary A. Buchanan of Des Moines, and Annette M. Buchanan and Tammy (Mrs. Dan) Stock, both of Newton; and her mother, Thursie Craig of Newton.

Also surviving are a brother, Robert D. Craig of Homewood, IL.; and five sisters, Beverly Warren of Hillsboro, TN., Mary Lou Sclair of Tacoma, WA., Sandy Bradford of Des Moines, Sally Vasquez of Newton and Vicki Golik of Killduff.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harry Craig, and a son, Craig Thomas, in infancy.

Mrs. Buchanan a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, had been employed by Snook Inn, Newton Telephone Co., had worked as a beautician, sold Avon products, worked at Newton Inn, had managed a Holiday Inn Restaurant in Des Moines and had worked for ERA Realtors in Newton.

The daughter of Harry Rayfield and Thursie Elizabeth Meyers Craig, she was born Sept. 27, 1939 in Newton, was a graduate of Newton Community High Scool and the Americana Beauty Academy in Des Moines.

She married Thomas R. Buchanan June 24,1961 in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton.
