Millie Estella Ulrich Russel

Millie Estella Ulrich was born in New York state February 23, 1873, and died at her home near Colfax, March 10, 1911, at the age of 38 years and 15 days. While a small child she came with her parents to Jasper County, Iowa, locating a few miles east of Colfax, where she grew to womanhood.

She was married to Wm. E. Russell March 9, 1898. Six children came to bless their home, five of whom are living; Zelpha Fay, Boice Douglas, Orrin Francis, Dollie M. (died in infancy), Edwin Melrose and Floy Nadine.

Mr. and Mrs. Russell began their life together on a rented farm but, after five years of hard work and economy they bought the farm where they have lived for the past eight years.

Mrs. Russell was a good woman in every sense of the word; always cheerful and hopeful, a true helpmate to her husband and a good mother to her children; for them, no sacrifice was too great and no work too hard. During her last sickness, everything that medical skill and loving hearts could suggest was done, but it was all of no avail, and she breathed her last at 10 a.m., Friday after a little over three weeks siege of typhoid fever and resulting complications. She leaves, besides her husband and children, an aged father and mother, several brothers and sisters and a host of friends.

Funeral services were conducted at the home, Sunday at 2 p.m., by Rev. A.B. Cornell, of Prairie City, and the body was taken to Colfax for burial at Oak Hill.
Mr. Russell and his little ones have the sympathy of the whole community.
