George Selber
1877-1905

George Franklin Selber died at the home of his parents in Sherman township last Wednesday, September 6, 1905, aged twenty-eight years. He had been ill for about seven months with tuberculosis, which was the cause of death.

Mr. Selber was born in this county February 5, 1877, the oldest son of John and Louise Selber. He was united in marriage to Miss Sophie Flogstad, in Des Moines, December 25, 1902, and they have since made their home in Jasper county. He leaves a wife, mother, father, four sisters and one brother.

George was always an upright, industrious young man and it is the testimony of all who knew him that he was “as good hearted a boy as ever lived.” His last words were the Lord’s Prayer and to his wife, “I am ready to go and will meet you all in heaven.”

The funeral was held at the Sugar Grove church at two o’clock Friday afternoon, September 8, Rev. W. Dieffenbach of the Lutheran church of Newton officiating, and the interment was made in the Metz cemetery.

Our most sincere thanks are due and hereby tendered to the many friends for their acts and deeds of kindness during the sickness and death of our son and brother. (John Selbers and family.)
