Miss Lucinda Burnette died at 12:30 Monday morning at the home of her sister, Mrs. Jarvis Stillings, of dropsy. Miss Burnette was born in Laurel County, Kentucky, March 17, 1839, and has made her home with her sister for 38 years. The funeral occurred from the Stillings home on Walnut street, Tuesday afternoon, at 2:00 p.m. and was conducted by Miss Burnette’s pastor, Rev. DeJarnette of the Christian Church. Eli Burnette of Seligman, Missouri, has been here for the past two weeks at the bedside of his sister. From Newton the following relatives attended. Mrs. D.B. Coon, Mrs. C.C. Coon, William Wyrick and wife, also William and George Brock and their wives, from near Monroe. John Burnette a brother of the deceased who lives in Colfax was too ill to attend the funeral. The interment occurred at Oak Hill cemetery.
