Final rites for Calvin Montreville Sabin, 65, who died at his home Saturday morning were conducted at the Methodist Episcopal Church Monday afternoon with Dr. L.B. Logan in charge. Interment was in the Newton Union Cemetery.

Calvin Montreville Sabin, son of John D.W. and Mary Ann (Cashman) Sabin, was born 16 May 1873 and died at his home in Newton, Iowa, 31 December 1938.

He married Maggie Rocella Simons on 10 October 1894. Eleven children came to bless their union, six sons and five daughters, all of whom survive their father, except one son, Carroll, who died in infancy.

Mr. Sabin brought the family to Newton in 1908 where he entered the employ of F.L. Maytag for whom he worked for a quarter of a century as a yard man and chauffeur. He retired a few years ago but kept busy in the interest of his church, The Methdist Episcopal and the I.O.O.F. Lodge which he served as Noble Grand.

He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, five sons and five daughters, all whom were present at the time of his death, and 17 grandchildren, Mrs. Robert Wheeler, Newton, IA, Rev. Everett A. Sabin, Dubuque, IA, Edgar Sabin of Newton, IA, Mrs. Elmer Swigart of Clinton, IA, Leslie Sabin, Newton, IA, Alfred Sabin, Rockford, Il, Mrs. Peter Zwank of Pella, IA, Mrs. Roy Buchanan of Newton, IA, Mrs. William Jackson, of Newton, IA, and Wilbur Sabin of Newton, IA.

Four brothers and a half-sister also remain: Mrs. Emma Umbarger, Britton, S.D.;Mrs. Anna Meeks, St. Paul, MN; Mrs.Frank Heddinger, Luzerne, IA; Mrs. Martha Young, Mason City, IA; Frank Curtright, St. Paul, MN.
