Betty June McGinley, 63, of 1412 W. 4th St. N., a longtime resident of Newton, died of a heart attack Sunday afternoon, Oct. 18, at the Skiff Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

Dr. Douglas Oelke, pastor of the First Baptist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 8 a.m. Tuesday. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions to the Diabetes Association will be accepted.

Sruvivors are her husband, Earnest; three sons, John and Dan, both of Newton, and Jeff of Watertown, S.D.; two daughters, Patricia (Mrs. David) Drew and Dianna (Mrs. Lloyd) Machin, both of Newton; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, Merle Hood of Ottumwa and Dick Hood of Troy, N.Y., and two sisters, Luella Capitani of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Bernice Edinger of Watervliet, N.Y.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. McGinley, a member of the First Baptist Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, had worked at the Vernon Co.

The daughter of Lawrence and Grace Clement Hood, she was born Dec. 2, 1923 in Adel.

She was married Feb. 19, 1944 in Newton. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton Iowa, October 19, 1987.
