LaVita Jennings Dies Early Today At Prairie City

Mrs. John "Jack" (LaVita) M. Jennings, 81, lifelong resident of Prairie City, died this morning at her home in Prairie City.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Prairie City.

The Rev. Oren Reger, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City.

Friends may call after 10 a.m. Friday at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City.

Memorial contributions to the United Methodist Church will be accepted. They may be left at the funeral home.

Surviving are her husband; a son, Max Jennings of Prairie City; a daughter, Margaret Jennings of Prairie City; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a twin sister in infancy.

Mrs. Jennings was a member of the Prairie City United Methodist Church, United Methodist Church Women, Women's Society of Christian Service, KK Klub and American Legion Auxiliary.

She had been a long time Sunday school teacher and 4-H leader and was an honorary member of the 4-H.

The daughter of Luther and Nellie Sims Taylor, she was born May 11, 1897 in Metz and was a 1916 graduate of Prairie City Community High School.

She was married Feb. 4, 1920 at Prairie City. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa, March 22, 1979
