Ardena Nelson, 87, of Newton died Monday, Jan. 9, 2006, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

A funeral service will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Merle Smith, chaplain of Skiff Medical Center in Newton, officiating. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery in Lynnville. Following the service, a lunch and fellowship time with the family is planned from 1:45 to 2:30 p.m. in the Tribute Center. Memorials may be made in her name, to Hospice of Jasper County or Lynnville Historical Society.
