WEST POINT, Neb. — Clarence T. Jack, 81, of West Point, Neb., formerly of Monroe and Prairie City, died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2005, at West Point Living Center in Nebraska.

A graveside service will be held at Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City at a later date. There will be no visitation.

The son of D. W. and Lela S. (Workman) Jack, he was born Feb. 7, 1924, in Monroe. He attended school in Monroe and Prairie City. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1941-1942, the U.S. Army from 1943-1947 and the U.S. Air Force from 1954-1957. He was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received during the capture of the Ludendorff Bridge. He worked as flagman and on bridge construction for the Rock Island Railroad and the C.B. & Q. Railroad. He enjoyed playing the piano and organ, which he learned from his parents. He also enjoyed sports, especially baseball.

He was a member of Methodist Church in Monroe and Prairie City and was a member of VFW Post No. 4912 of West Point.

Survivors include a sister, Catherine Koder of Newton; brother, Dwight (Joyce) Jack of Highland Ranch, Colo.; and special friend and mentor, Bob Wostoupal of Beemer, Neb.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Esther; an infant brother, Lewis Jack; and sisters, Genevieve Simbro and Martha Johnston.
