Vina Mae Connor, 89, of Newton died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006, at Careage of Newton.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton, with the Rev. Mike Brown, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Kellogg, officiating. Burial will be at the Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6 until 8 p.m. The family requests no flowers and that memorials may be designated in Mrs. Connor's name.

The daughter of Earl and Frances Drake Moore, she was born July 26, 1916, in Newton. She graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1934. She was united in marriage to Harold C. Connor on April 20, 1941, in Newton. She served as a clerk at Perryman's Pharmacy and later Henderson's Pharmacy for 20 years, retiring in 1981.

She was a member of the Women of the Moose, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Richland Grange, Jasper County Chorus and Newton Business and Professional Women. She enjoyed her family, traveling and her dog, Charlie.

She is survived by a daughter, Becky Jo (Carl) Eggermont of Kellogg, and a grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
