Dale E. "Burt" Burtlow, 78, of Newton died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

A funeral service will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. David Rex of Metz Church officiating. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery.

The family will greet friends from 9 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be left in his name at the funeral home.

The son of Nason and Daisy Sparks Burtlow, he was born Sept. 6, 1927, in Thornburg. On May 16, 1946, he married Evelyne E. Fox in Oskaloosa. He was a production worker in the die cast department at Maytag Company for 30 years and retired in 1981. He was a member of the Church of God in Knoxville and a member of UAW Local 997 Retirees Union in Newton. He enjoyed reading his Bible and going to church.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Dale A. "Allen" (Debi) Burtlow, Danny G. (Linda Sites) Burtlow and Mark E. (Melissa) Burtlow, all of Newton; two daughters, Connie E. (Jess Burdock) Clingan of What Cheer and Rhonda (Michael Payne) Burtlow of Newton; three grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Burtlow of Eddyville and Judy Hunter of San Jacinto, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents and an infant son, Matthew.
