News from Vandalia and Vicinity
J. F. Rose was a Des Moines visitor Thursday.
Mrs. Ollie Trader spent Thursday with Mrs. J. I. Cavett.
Mrs. J. C. Miller and children, Gail, Noma and Harold, were shopping in Des Moines Friday.
Gladys, Melvin and Elmer Blood, Mina Wicker, Nola Daugherty, Gladys Cavett and Howard Rose attended the carnival at the Runnells school Friday evening.
Bill Rose came home Saturday from Broadlawns hospital, where he has been for almost three weeks. He is feeling fine.
Miss Jessie Hunter spent Sunday at the home of her aunt, Mrs. Frank Harmer.
Mr. and Mrs. Dick Gulling and family visited Sunday at the parental A. O. Blood home.
Mr. and Mrs. Ford Mott and children spent Saturday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Mott and Vern.
Mr. and Mrs. Val Brunner visited Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Anderson.
Lois Erskin spent Sunday with Grace Daugherty.
Mr. and Mrs. Denver Wicker and family spent Sunday at the parental Lowman Miller home.
There will be a pie social at the Vandalia church on Thursday evening, December 5th. Anyone that wishes to may bring either pie, cake or candy.
Calvin Miller played with Raymond Wicker Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Pete Gulling spent Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Francis Pulver and family.
Mrs. Eliza Fleming went home with Ira Ingle and family Sunday to visit a while.
Mr. and Mrs. Ollie Trader and Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Cooper motored to Des Moines Sunday afternoon.
At the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mack Smith Sunday afternoon occurred the marriage of their daughter Velma to George McReynolds. The bride has lived in Vandalia all her life and the groom’s home is near Monroe. The couple were married by Rev. Clyde McDonald, of Des Moines. We all join in wishing them a happy and prosperous wedded life.
