Surprised on 50th Wedding Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Anderson, of Vandalia, Surprised on Sunday by their children.
Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Anderson, of Vandalia, were pleasantly surprised Sunday when all the children gathered in with well-filled baskets in honor of their fiftieth wedding anniversary, it being Wednesday, April 8th.
About nineteen shared the bountiful dinner of which two beautiful cakes occupied the place of honor, one being decorated for Easter and the other for the anniversary.
The afternoon was spent socially, many of the neighbors and friends calling.
Mr. Anderson came to Jasper County in 1848 at the age of two years and has made his home here ever since. Mrs. Anderson came here in 1855 at the age of four years. They were united in marriage April 8, 1875.
All the children and grandchildren were able to be present, with the exception of three grandchildren.
Those present were: Mr. & Mrs. Osa Farrar and son Foster, of Vandalia; Mrs. Val Brunner and son Cecil, of Prairie City; Mrs. Frank Brunner, of Colfax; Mr. & Mrs. Glenn Anderson and daughter Maxine, of Newton; Mrs. Rollie White and children, Opal, Catharine, and William, of Percy; Mr. & Mrs. C. R. Anderson and children Roy, Lee, Bobbie, and Gladys, of Newton.
