Granted Diplomas

Last week, sixty-six boys and girls took examination for graduation in the country schools of Jasper County, most of them taking theirs in the County superintendent office, in Newton, and the rest that Prairie city. Of that number, 16 were successful in obtaining the required standings, and have received the coveted diplomas. And number of the aspirants were not more than 12 years old. Our County Superintendent informs us that arithmetic and grammar are the branches in which the boys and girls failed the most. The following are the names and post offices of the ones receiving diplomas:
