Nuptials

Mr. Cyrus Mershon, one of Jasper County's upright men, was married on Tuesday evening of last week to Mrs. Mary Cating, of Malcolm. The wedding took place at the home of the rides parents Mr. and Mrs. S. M. Cating, only a few friends and relatives being present. It was a morning wedding and in the evening of that day Mr. Mershon brought his bride home. On Wednesday, a number of relatives ate dinner with the bride and groom at the home of the groom's brother, Mr. Warder Mershon. Mr. and Mrs. Mershon will live on the former's farm and the best wishes of many friends go with them. Cy stole a march on his friends by his marriage, but we all forgive him as he obtained such a good wife. ~ The Newton Journal, January 15, 1897
