The quiet country home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Magee, a couple of miles northwest of Newton, was filled to its very borders on last Wednesday evening, July 31st, with relatives and friends of the family gathered at the wedding of Mr. Fred Woodrow and Miss Ella C. Guthrie. It was a delightful evening of a most beautiful day-just the hour for a happy marriage.

The guests had assembled early and in goodly numbers. The happy young people-promptly at 8 o'clock-preceded by Rev. E. J. Rice, the officiating minister-came into the parlors of the old home, and in the midst of a host of witnesses, took upon them the sacred vows that made them one in heart and life.

The wedding march was rendered by Miss Grace Dennis, of Newton, and fully expressed the joy of all those interested. The bride, a daughter of Mrs. Magee, was beautifully dressed in cream Henrietta trimmed with satin and lace and adorned with smilax and roses. The bridegroom, a son of Mr. Joseph M. Woodrow of the Jasper County Bank, was handsomely dressed in a suit of black and was as radiant with unbidden happiness as such a true young man ought to be at such an hour.

The presents were both elegant and useful and will serve to remind these young married people of the wealth of love that bestowed them in this glad hour. The feast that followed the interesting and eventful evening was evidence of the kindly hospitality of Mr. and Mrs. Magee and the thoughtfulness and love of Miss Fanny Guthrie, sister of the bride.

Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow went away to their own new house-not far from the old-that same evening of their marriage and the glad wishes of all their friends, far and near, go with them. ~ The Newton Journal 7-31-1895.
