Married-At the home of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Armeutrout, in this city, on Tuesday evening, March 19th, 1889, occurred the marriage of their daughter, Miss Eva, to Mr. John H. Zink. Rev. I. O. Kemble officiating. Promptly at 8 o'clock Miss Minnie Bollhoeffer commenced playing sweet strains of the wedding march while the contracting parties entered the parlor to receive the solemn vows that made them man and wife. After the impressive ceremony Rev. Kemble introduced Mr. and Mrs. Zink, congratulations were unreservedly tendered, a sumptuous supper served and a social evening enjoyed by the large company present.

The bride was handsomely attired in sage green silk, gloves, bridal veil and lovely natural white roses. The groom wore the usual suit of black. The following day Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Zink honored their son and his bride with a reception at their home, 7 miles southeast of Newton, attended only by relatives and intimate friends. Our greatest perplexity is how those who attended both wedding and reception escaped founder after partaking of two such feasts in so close proximity. Eva is one of Jasper County's most popular school teachers, and is a lady of noble characteristics in every respect. John is a young farmer known for his industrial habits and uprightness of character in social and business capacities. The many elegant and useful presents bestowed on this worthy couple show the high esteem in which they are held by their many friends. They are located on the farm owned by the bride's father, 3 miles northwest of Newton, and we predict for their future happiness and prosperity. ~ The Newton Journal 3-27-1889.
