Baptists Will Build Church at Metz

At a meeting held in the school house at Metz January 18, the new Baptist church building for Metz received the hearty support of all present and the house was filled.

Rev. Newton G. Thomas was present and presided over the meeting.

The plan is to erect a building to cost $1800 or $2000 and $1000 of it was raised at the meeting.

The trustees are: W. H. Brock, Geo. H. Hitchler, Elmer Emmack, Herbert Tharp, and C. H. Emmack. They have been authorized to go ahead with the plan and have full power to let the contract, purchase material and secure a site for the building.

Three sites are under consideration, one on the hill near the school house and two down in the village.

The people in and about Metz have been greatly stirred religiously during the past few weeks by the revival meetings conducted by rev. Newton G. Thomas and the organization of the Baptists and decision to build a church is one of the important results. ~ Newspaper unknown, 25 Jan 1911.
