Lynnville Couple Married 60 Years
Lynnville – Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Meredith observed their 60th wedding anniversary Sunday with open house.
Their five children were present with husbands and/or wives. They are Mrs. Treva Etting of Los Angeles, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Glen (Freda) Brignon of Searsboro; Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Meredith of Lynnville; Mr. and Mrs. Mertin Meredith of Marine City, Mich., with their daughters Maxine and Diane and Mr. and Mrs. Rayford Meredith of Newton and daughter, Judy of Ames.
The open house was held at the Friends church where 150 relatives and friends called. They came from Oskaloosa, Grinnell, Pella, Ames, New Sharon, Bloomfield, Kellogg and nearby towns.
Married March 6, 1902 near Lynnville, the couple has, in addition to the five children, 11 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren.
Mrs. Etting and Mrs. Brignon, daughters, served decorated cake from a flower-centered table. The cake was topped with “60.”
A short program was presented and consisted of prayer by the Rev. J. W. Garbison, a brief talk by the Rev. Max Brandt, readings by Mrs. Harvey Gause and Theresa Meredith and a duet by Mr. and Mrs. Dale Jansen of Pella.
