BURNS, Jerome S.
Farmer and Stock Raiser; Sec. 31; P. O. Prairie City; born in St. Charles Co., Mo., Oct. 7, 1831. Came to this county in 1865; has 200 acres of land, valued at $10,000. Married Mary KUHNS. She was born in Mercer Co., Penn., May 13, 1836. They have thirteen children, ten of whom are living - Carter, born April 5, 1858; Sylvester, Dec. 19, 1859; Elizabeth, Dec. 9, 1863; Christina, Dec. 15, 1867; Annie, April 14, 1871; Luary, Nov. 26, 1872; George, May 3, 1874; Della, Dec. 14, 1875; Fred, April 24, 1878. Emigrated from Missouri with his parents to Jackson Co., Iowa, in 1846, where he lived nineteen years; thence to Jasper Co. where he has resided since; settled twenty-two miles from Dubuque, and there were not more than a half dozen houses on the road.
