CLYMER, John
Farmer and Stock Raiser; Sec. 28; P. O. Prairie City; born in Greene Co., Penn., May 30, 1826; came to this county in 1866. Has 240 acres of land, valued at $8,500. Married his first wife, Mary CHURCHELL. She was born in New York. They had three children, two living - Sarah E. and George S. For his second wife, married Catherine STOUFFER. She was born in Ohio, Feb. 25, 1836. They have one child - John F. Came from Pennsylvania to Wisconsin; lived there some time; thence to the northern part of Iowa; from there went to Freeborn Co., Minn.; traveled around considerable; was in Kansas and in 1866 came to Jasper Co., where he has resided since. Raised about eighty acres of corn (4,000 bushels), 400 bushels of oats, generally feeds a car load of cattle and turns off about seventy-five head of hogs yearly. ~ "Mound Prairie Township Biographies," The History of Jasper County, Iowa, (Chicago: Western Historical Company, 1878)
