RUMBAUGH, J. B.
S. 7; P. O. Newton; Farmer; born in Greene Co., Ohio, Feb. 14, 1829. Married Miss M. E. HIBBITTE in Ohio in 1849. She was born in Logan Co., Ohio, Aug. 31, 1832. They have had ten children, six of whom are living - N. M., Cassanah A., Mariah A., Ulysses S., Jannatta E. and Oliver B. Has eighty acres of land, valued at $40 per acre. He moved to Polk Co., Iowa in 1854; remained six years, and moved to Jasper Co. in 1860. Enlisted in Co. G, 23d I. V. I., in the 16th Army Corps; was disabled for life while in the army, and was discharged by reason of physical disability in 1863. He was one of the earliest pioneers of Polk Co. He was engaged in the saw-mill and lumber business in Vandalia, Iowa before the war.
