HILL, Joseph H.
Retired farmer, Monroe. He was born in Carroll Co., VA in 1814 and remained there until 1831 when he went to Kentucky, thence to Highland County, OH until 1847 when he moved to this county. He is one of the pioneer settlers. He married Miss. E. F. LOYD in Highland Co., OH. She was born in Madison Co., VA. They have had nine children, six of whom are living---William F., who enlisted in an Iowa regiment, and was honorably discharged; John H., who also served in an Iowa regiment and was honorably discharged after three years service, and died in 1872; James M. who also served in an Iowa regiment and was honorably discharged; George W, Thomas J., Samantha Ann (now Mrs. METTLER); Joseph M., deceased; Martaret E., deceased and Amanda J. Mr. Hill owns 122 acres of land. He and wife are members of the M. E. Church.
