Rhoda Almira Sager Kintz Burns Jennings
Rhoda Almira Sager was the youngest child of Simon and Eliza (Alder) Sager. She was born January 29, 1865, in Jasper County. On December 12, 1880, she was married to Commodore Perry Kintz, son of John William and Mary (Oswald) Kintz. Rhoda and Commodore Perry had a son, William Lawrence. After a divorce, she married Michael Burns. This marriage also ended in divorce. On Dec 27, 1896, she was married to Charles Jennings, the son of Joseph and Eliza (McCowan) Jennings. Following his death, she lived in Newton and Colfax. She raised the children of her son, Bill.
She was a large woman - and had a heart to match. Many an hour I have spent with her. Aunt Almie always had time to listen to the problems of others. She lived in a little house just half a block from Colfax School. All her cooking was done on a little "monkey stove" in the living room. I thought she was the best cook in the world.
She died May 7, 1943, and was laid to rest in McKeever Cemetery.
