NATHAN 1814-1882 AND ROSANNA (LEE) MOLL 1818-1889
Nathan Moll was born in Pennsylvania July 2, 1814. On February 25, 1838, he was married to Rosanna Lee (born June 14, 1818). They moved to Bucks County, Pennsylvania, before coming to Jasper County, Iowa. They were the parents of eight children, two dying in infancy. All were born in Pennsylvania.
Nathan was a gunsmith by trade and also farmed. He lived in Section 27 of Poweshiek Township for many years.
Their children who grew to adulthood were: Sarah, Samuel, James A. John, Sabilla, and Rosa.
Sarah, who married Mr. Seaman, and lived in Hoboken, New Jersey, in 1915
Samuel, born August 22, 1838, was a miner. He never married. His death occurred March 7, 1915, with burial at KcKeever Cemetery.
James A. Moll, born December 26, 1842, married Mary McQuiston, the daughter of John and Nancy (Bowers) McQuiston. Her parents are found elsewhere. James was a coal digger at the Number Four shaft of the Diagonal Coal Company Mine near Oswalt. He was caught under a huge mass of falling slate on March 12, 1892, and died of his injuries six days later. Mary died November 21, 1903. They are buried at McKeever Cemetery. They were the parents of six children: Frank, Charles A., Ada (Mrs. Eli Cross), Aaron, William, and Freddie M.
John Moll was born about 1844. His marriage to Olive Knapp took place April 9, 1872.
Sabilla Moll was married to Jonathan sager, the son of Simon and Eliza (Alder) Sager on April 18, 1875. The tale of the tragic death of Sabilla will be found in the Simon Sager story.
Rosa was born at Quakertown, Pennsylvania, on December 7, 1860. Her death occurred January 20, 1935, in Poweshiek Township. Her husband, James M. Evans, was killed in a coal mine accident October 7, 1897, at the age of thirty-eight years.
