PEER, Thomas
Retired. He was born in Oct 1812 in Pickaway Co., OH. On 16 Aug 1852 he came to Jasper Co., Iowa, Lynn Grove. In 1869 he came to Newton, Iowa and owns his residence and 3 1/4 acres in the city. When in Rock Creek, he was Justice of the Peace about six years. He was Supervisor one term, also School Treasurer and Director. His son, William I., enlisted in 1862 in Co B, 13th I. V. I, and served until the end of the war. He married Sophia IKE in May 1832. She was born in 1813 in Pennsylvania. They had ten children, six living--Sarah A., Harriet E., John W., William I., J.C. and Lafayette E.
