MAYFIELD, Mrs. M. A.
She is the daughter of J. PAYTON and wife of N. B. Mayfield, Lynnville. She was elected in Oct 1877 to Superintendent of Schools of Jasper Co., Iowa. She was born in Morgan Co., IN. He was born 16 Oct 1844 in Lynn Grove Twp.. He is supposed to be the first white child born in Jasper Co. They were married 8 Mar 1868, and have two adopted children--Emma BUTRUM and Billy HUGHES. Mrs. M. came to Jasper with her parents in 1835.
