Farmer, Sec. 35. He owns 160 acres of land, valued at $10,400. He was born in Jefferson Co., W.VA on 24 Sep 1830, and moved to Burlington, Iowa in June 1855. He remained there one year and then removed to Newton Village, where he resided (with the exception of one year on the "Hammer Farm") till 1865 when he moved to his present farm on which he raises wheat, corn, rye, oats, hay, etc. He married Mary F. BLAKE in Newton on 6 May 1861. She is a native of Indiana. Their children are Lydia G., William H., Robert E., Birdie and Freddie.
