LISTER, James
Butcher, Main St., residence same. He was born 9 Feb 1830 in Yorkshire, England. In 1856 he came to Newton, IA. He first engaged with Mushon & Bros. milling business and in 1857 he commenced his present business. He had followed this business seven years in Bradford, Eng. He is supposed to be the first butcher in Bradford. He married Mrs. Ann FASTER, daughter of George INGLE in 1851. She was born 3 Jul 1825 in Yorkshire, Eng. She had one child by a former marriage--Dinah (now Mrs. NEEDHAM), has one son William T. ~ "Newton Township Biographies," The History of Jasper County, Iowa, (Chicago: Western Historical Company, 1878)
