LEDYARD, George R.
County Auditor, res. McDonald Street. He was born 30 Nov 1834, in Orleans Co. NY in 1854. He went to Columbia Co., WI the same year and removed to IL. In 1855 he came to Marion Co. IA. He enlisted in 1862 in co. G., 33rd I. V. I. and served to the end of the war. In 1865 he came to Jasper Co IA. In 1869 he was elected County Auditor and removed to Newton. He married S. A. WHITTAKER 30 Oct 1856. She was born in Muskingum Co., OH 15 Apr 1836. They had four children, three living-- George W., Ella E., and William R. Mr. L. has been Justice of the Peace.
