HASKIT, Thomas
Retired. he was born 21 Sep 1807 in Warren Co, OH. He went to Indiana in 1824, and to Jasper County in 1854. He owns 95 acres in Palo Alto Twp, and also property in this city. He married Sarah PICKERING in 1829. She was born in OH. They have had seven children, three of whom are now living---W. I., Emily J. (now Mrs. ELLIOT), living in CA., and Lydia (now Mrs. STOVER.) His son, Jonas P. enlisted in 1862 in Co. K., 28th I. V. I., and was killed at the battle of Champion Hills 16 May 1863. Mr. H. has always been prominently identified with the Agricultural Society since its organization. He has been County Superintendent and Township Clerk.
