HARPER, W. J.
Miller and Farmer, Malaka Mills; S. 22; P. O. Horn; born in Tuscarawas Co., Ohio, Nov. 1, 1833. Married Celia HALE in Indiana in 1855. They have five children - Mary L., Sidney, Jacob, Seely and Ella. His wife died in Jasper Co., Iowa. Married for his second wife Sarah J. WARRELL in Jasper Co., Iowa, in 1865. She was born in Ohio in 1841; mother of seven children - Lillie B., Richard, Charles, Sophia, Viola, and an infant; James and Minnie died in infancy. Moved to Indiana; thence to Missouri; Madison Co., Iowa; thence to Marion Co., Iowa; to Jasper Co. in 1864. He had but 10 cents in his pocket when he came to the county; now has a mill that cost $6,000, fifteen acres of land, a good residence and comfortable surroundings, which he made by his own exertions. ~ "Malaka Township Biographies," The History of Jasper County, Iowa, (Chicago: Western Historical Company, 1878)
