HALL, Gilbert
Farmer; Sec. 33; P. O. Newton; born in New Hampshire Oct. 29, 1831. Married a Miss DREW in Ohio in 1857. She was born in Maine Jan. 8, 1833. They have one child - Bertha, born in Jasper Co., Iowa. Has eighty acres of land, valued at $40 per acre. He moved to Ohio, where he followed shoemaking six months, and thence to Iowa in 1853, and followed trade one year; followed carpentering three years, and then located on his present farm, where he now resides, in 1858. Mr. Hall followed school teaching in Newton; taught in the old Court House, which has since been removed. Held the office of Township Clerk four years and President of the School Board two years.
