MAYFIELD, John A.
Farmer; Sec. 11; P. O. Lynnville; owns thirty-one acres, valued at $1,200; born in Barren Co., Ky., Oct. 19, 1830; moved with his parents to Sangamon Co., Ill., when about 4 years old, where they resided till the Spring of 1844, and moved to Libertyville, Jefferson Co., Iowa, where they stayed a few months, and came to this county, arriving in Lynn Grove about the 8th of August, and were the first family who effected a permanent settlement in the Grove. His father was a native of Kentucky, and died Aug. 10, 1871, aged 66 years; his mother is a native of the same place; is still living with her son at Searsboro. Mr. M. married Ellen MOODY in Sept., 1855; she was born in Tuscarawas Co., Ohio; they have two sons-James B. and Lee J. ~ "Lynn Grove Township Biographies," The History of Jasper County, Iowa, (Chicago: Western Historical Company, 1878)
